Joe Danger devs share why publishers turned them down

It's not all that often you get to hear about the things said behind closed doors nowadays but Joe Danger developer Hello Games gave a rare glimpse by sharing withDevelop 2010 attendeeswhy some unnamed publishers passed on the game. Needless to say, everyone got a laugh out of it.

Just so you know where Hello Games is coming from, they were one of the finalists vying for the grand prize in the 12th Annual Independent Games Festival with Joe Danger in early 2010. The game later went on to sell over 50,000 copies during its first week on PlayStation Network and has been getting high marks all over the place. So why was the game a hard sell?

One publisher failed to see the appeal of motorbikes in stunt races and another thought the game would work better as a Facebook app. As for the worst of the worst, one company was seeking games that were "less about fun" while someone else wanted Joe to be a monkey. We're pretty sure these publishers are going to reconsider who's listening to game pitches after this.
