If you deleted or lost your save game from CD Projekt's RPG The Witcher, you may want to get playing again ahead of the Q1 2011 release of its sequel. According to a new developer diary from the studio, The Witcher 2 will allow you to import your save game, which will affect how lead characters interact with Geralt, depending on which decisions you made in that game. Nevertheless, it's assured if you haven't played the first title, you can still definitely enjoy this one, just not quite as fully.
Also noted is the huge element of Slavic mythology in the game, from which we see some terribly interesting creatures.
Secondly, companions are independent, unlike say, BioWare's RPGs, so in some instances you'll be acting as an observer, watching how they affect matters, rather than shaping their development and in turn, the plot.
A large emphasis seems to be placed on characterization in The Witcher 2; the game's dialogue writer notes he's writing the cast from the inside out, so to speak, so this should make for stronger characters.
We'll surely find out more when we chat up CD Projekt at E3.
