Debut XCOM trailer feels more like BioShock than X-COM

Debut XCOM trailer feels more like BioShock than X-COM

After the first reveal some months ago, we were definitely wary in learning the upcoming X-COM reboot, subtly titled XCOM, was a first person shooter with some strategy elements. We kept our minds open, though, that this could be a faithful albeit very different take on a classic universe.

The trailer which debuted at E3 this year though is pretty discouraging on that front -- there are obviously elements of the series in there, but at least in terms of gameplay, XCOM seems to much more resemble the BioShock series (developed by the same team here).

As something unattached to X-COM and perhaps presented as a spirtual successor to BioShock, the game seems pretty interesting, but as an X-COM entry, not so much. As an X-COM and/or BioShock fan, leave your own thoughts in the comments below.
