Templars have been taking a lot of crap in video games, what with Assassin's Creed awarding Achievements for killing them. So here comes Kalypso Media with a new game about a Templar, appropriately titled The First Templar.
The game is currently set for Q1 2011 release on Xbox 360 and PC, complete with co-op play. The two main characters are a French Templar and a noble woman declared a heretic, with the latter being "player two" or AI controlled; the two mismatched allies will uncover one massive conspiracy behind the Templar Order.
Debut screenshots feel a bit like Assassin's Creed II, though that commonality may lie solely in the fact that these games take place in the 13th century. I see a little bit of Dragon Age in those baddies, but that might just be me.
Features of The First Templar
Single player- two characters: Play as either character, switching roles as you go to use the best skills for the job.
RPG inspired character development: each has their own skills and skill paths, which the player can develop as they complete missions and explore the game world
Rich, historical game-world: return to the 13th century, where European culture is on the brink of collapse. 20 historically accurate locations have been recreated for the player to explore.
