The PC Gaming Alliance -- a non-profit promotion group to champion PC gaming -- has launched their official website.
The PC Gaming Alliance is funded by hardware manufactures such as AMD and Nvidia, and some game companies, such as Capcom and Epic Games, to highlight the successes of PC gaming.
A popular news story of 2008 on gaming and technology websites was that "PC gaming is dead." But there would be many that would argue that this is the case. For example, while many "PC gaming is dead" stories have cited falling box sales of games as evidence for this claim, the same stories did not mention that digital download sales of games is booming. Or that MMORPGs (well, okay, mostly Blizzard) continue to reap buckets and buckets loads of high denomination currency.
Besides promoting PC gaming in general, the PCGA will also be trying to deal with some of the issues that hamper gaming on the PC, such as high rates of piracy and understanding hardware requirements.
“Visitors to our website will see that the PCGA is the place that PC Gaming companies of all types can come together to collaborate to help solve problems that plague our industry, said Randy Stude, PCGA president and Intel director, Gaming Program Office. Our membership remains steadfast in the belief that this is vital to ensuring the continued growth and health of PC Gaming globally.”
