Atlus Online gets Neo Steam'ed

Atlus Online gets Neo Steamed

Publisher Atlus revealed its intentions to enter the MMO business with the creation of Atlus Online, and now the division lifts the curtains over its first online game release, "Neo Steam: The Shattered Continent".  Neo Steam was first released in South Korea by developer JoyImpact and operator HanbitSoft.  Atlus Online hopes to bring the localized title to new markets like North and South America, while Gamigo Games is preparing the closed beta for Europe.  It's free-to-play, though (you guessed it) players may choose to purchase additional items for optional advantages.

The title is being billed as a "steampunk fantasy", and will put players into a world where three nations vie over an energy resource dubbed Neo Steam, a tecnological innovation from a past era that leverages science and sorcery.  Neo Steam offers seven playable races with the requisitve job classes, and players will eventually tap into the power of Neo Steam energy itself to further the development of their characters, abilities and equipment.  Players will also get access to pets for in-game assistance, and even steampunk inspired modes of transport like the always-classy airships.

Since PvE only takes some players so far these days, Neo Steam promises PvP combat or the larger scale RvR sieges for players in the mood for some competition between the main nations of the game.  PvP takes place on a special area deemed "lawless", so players will come prepared.  Meanwhile in RvR, players either construct and defend forts aligned to country, or attack them in raids with siege weapons.

Atlus Online has yet to provide additional release details or word of a possible closed beta, but it expects to pass word to its faithful when they arrive.  The website for the original Korean game is here; compare it to style adopted by the English websites linked below.
