Anarchy Online gets rejuvenated with Legacy of Xan expansion

Anarchy Online came out way back in 2001. Almost 7 years later, and the game is still going. The servers might not be as populated as they once where, and the game's graphics might be looking a bit more last-gen than next-gen, but a core group of fans are still treking Rubi-Ka -- and the game is still being expanded.

Funcom just released the 'Legacy of Xan' booster pack. (For Funcom, a booster pack is bigger than a big patch, but smaller than a full-fledged expansion pack.) The booster pack is focused on end-game content -- which makes sense, as the Anarchy Online playerbase is mostly longtime veterans.

The 'Xan' are an alien civilization. There legacy is stuff like new areas, new items, new enemies, and new missions.

“We are thrilled by the fact that ‘Anarchy Online’ continues to capture the imagination of gamers even after seven years of operation, and we greatly look forward to be bringing players even more challenges, content and improvements to the game in the time ahead!” said game director Colin Cragg.

The booster pack is going up for sale on February 19th -- that's right, it's not a free download unfortunately. After all, Funcom needs money to pay for Conan. It's going to be $19.99 USD, and everyone who buys it will get the "Phasefront Hoverchair" -- an in-game mount-type thing that will let you float around the gameworld like that Harkonen guy in David Lynch's version of Dune.
