Civilization V's "Extreme Diplomacy" mode revealed

Civilization Vs Extreme Diplomacy mode revealed

Traditionalist fans aren't going to be too happy about this: publisher 2K Games has revealed Civilization V's "Extreme Diplomacy" mode, wherein you scrap all the strategy business mid-battle in favor of a proper fight for conquest.

"Should normal diplomacy or military might fail to resolve conflicts between empires," writes 2K, "Extreme Diplomacy would allow two world leaders to enter a death match and fight to the finish, using special attacks and finishing moves. Two world leaders enter; one world leader leaves. The victor will obtain complete control of the challenger’s world empire."

Sure to anger PC gamers further, a deluxe edition of the game will include an eight-button joystick for just such occasions, which should make performing each world leader's special attack and finishing move that much easier:

George Washington’s Wooden Tooth Chomp AttackOtto von Bismarck’s Hurricane Helmet Spike AttackCleopatra’s Phalanx of the Leopard ArmyGenghis Khan’s Arrow Shower from the Mongol BowJulius Caesar’s Reverse Assassination

Civilization V launches this autumn.
