Some major changes are headed to the PC version of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 -- specifically, the servers and weapons. As of Wednesday morning Euro time (late night Tuesday North American time), the new R7 Client and R10 Server will go live, and with them, a new server browser, various fixes, and balancing tweaks. One major changes is four players are now required to start a match. Note updating to R7 will kill your single player save, and if you do not update, you will not be able to play online.
As mentioned, there will also be numerous balancing changes to the weapons, but DICE has seen fit not to detail them yet. Rather, they want you to "feel" the changes, rather than go in with preconceptions. Associate Producer "Bazajaytee" tells one particularly amusing story where they'd previously put in a changelog a weapon tweak and the reactions ranged from "Horrible changes it is ruined" to "OMG this is so much better." In reality, nothing had actually been changed.
In R8, we'll see what some call the "biggest gamebreaker": point fixing after death. At some point in the future (likely for R8), the chat system will be overhauled so you'll be able to chat while dead, too. A considered feature is an option for rez invulnerability.
Release notes are below; we'll update when it's gone live.
