Blur trailer gets social gaming in a racer, strategizing with friends

EA's Burnout series has always pushed the boundaries of racing games, be it letting you tear your opponents a new one in new ways, or creating a racer in an open world environment.

Well, Activision and Bizarre Creations seem interested in muscling in that market, and their latest Blur trailer goes over the social aspect of racing. Aside from all the pretty, colorful "powers" you'll pick up (like in Nintendo "kart" racers), the game emphasizes social networking... sort of.

Aside from having the auto upload thing with Twitter, you can gather fans and such in-game.

The latest "Under the Hood" dev video goes over a more traditional aspect of social gaming -- multiplayer. Blur will feature up to four-player splitscreen, and online play looks to be incredibly fun (and aggressive). As the team points out, you can work together with friends to take out other players, but the tempation to turn on each other may be too great.
