Finally, the "Architect" first mentioned at Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening's announcement has been revealed.
Up until now, we've only known there would be some sort of conflict with the fellow; today we learn he's a special sort of darkspawn -- even more special than the new "Neo-darkspawn" (no relation) introduced in the expansion.
The Architect is the first of the species to develop a will of his own. An "unusual outcast", he's not a slave to the call of the Old Gods or other standard compulsions the way the rest are. He's also quite intelligent, but has "little understanding of humanity" and as such treating them as anything but a darkspawn "would be folly." We can't wait to see what the big guy's all about.
In terms of design, the Architect is one of BioWare's finest creatures, and if you ask us, bears a striking resemblance to circa 2000 Marilyn Manson, which would fit in with the "Sex & Violence" trailer we saw last year for the original game.
Awakening launches Tuesday; look out for our review.
