While it isn't yet truly official - there is no Blizzard press release to link to - latest Cataclysm beta patch combined with a Blizzard forum post gives us the Cataclysm release date - December 7th 2010. This date can be deducted from two bits of Blizzard-supplied information; The latest beta build has the following string built in related to Arena matches.
"Arena battles and Rated Battlegrounds are only available during an active player versus player combat season. Season nine will begin on December 14th, so be prepared at that time to take your shot at glory!"
...and we already know that the next arena season starts roughly one week after Cataclysm launches.
The next Arena Season will begin for level-85 players approximately one week after the official launch of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.
Which puts the launch date of Cataclysm on or around December 7th. Mark your calendars, plan your level-up vacations and stock up on critical consumables accordingly. Expect an official confirmation from Bli2029zzard any day now.
