After waiting about a decade, lucky StarCraft fans can finally try out the sequel as of today, as the closed beta has launched on PC, with a Mac version to follow. There's currently no cutoff date -- that's to be determined.
Word is "thousands" of players got their key; if you were one of the few, let us know and share your experiences. If you were not, don't worry, as you may have a chance to hop in during a "later phase" -- sign up here if you haven't already. We'll have a preview up soon from our resident StarCraft expert AznLiquid.
Modes available include "multiplayer ladder quick match, which has 1v1, 2v2, and free-for-all (FFA)", in addition to unranked custom matches.
Along with the announcement comes official system requirements. Note these are subject to change as development continues:
•Windows XP SP3/Vista SP1/Windows 7
•2.2 Ghz Pentium IV or equivalent AMD Athlon processor
•1 GB system RAM/1.5 GB for Vista and Windows 7
•128 MB NVidia GeForce 6600 GT/ATI Radeon 9800 PRO video card
•1024x768 minimum display resolution
