Fallout: New Vegas came as a shock to much of the gaming community when it was announced last year. Particularly with publisher/developer Bethesda at war with original publisher Interplay, most fans of the original Fallouts figured all hope was lost for a new game from the original team members (at least, a good many of them). But, Bethesda's beef appears to be strictly with Interplay, so Fallout: New Vegas is going strong under the guide of Obsidian Entertainment, comprised of many of the Fallout and Fallout 2 designers.
Just now we've got in two juicy bits for the game, the first since the initial announcement. Firstly, it will be launching in autumn (on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360). Given it was announced less than a year ago, it appears development is going smoothly. On a side note, it will be a Games for Windows LIVE title on the PC, for those into that sort of thing.
Next is the big one: the first footage. A teaser is what's here, and it's a good one. As we already knew, New Vegas will take place around Nevada, which seems to be in a bit of a state in Obsidian's future. Some desert-dwelling fellow has declared the land his (hence "New Vegas") -- apparently the sorry state and dead bodies and such don't bother him.
Fallout: New Vegas looks like it could be quite dark, though we can only wait to see. Bethesda says the real goods will start releasing in the coming weeks, so until then.
