Mechwarrior 4 free release out now

Ready to pilot your own 70-ton Battlemech that's customized to your tastes? After months of waiting, the free release of Mechwarrior 4 is available today.

MekTek is not only bundling Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries and the Inner Sphere 'Mech Pak for everyone, they're also tipping their hat in with their MekPak 3.1 mod. Players will be able to choose from 105 different Battlemechs of different weight classes, over 115 weapons to equip as they please, and play with MekMatch servers catered to newbies, league players, and regional play. Dedicated servers can also be made and allow the use of bots with different skill levels.

Whether you're a new player or a veteran that's looking to get back into the series, all that's in your way is a hefty 1.7GB download from the source. Go brush up your skills in the Campaign and Instant Action modes then show the world what you got.
