The Aion version 1.9 update is looming ahead but that's old hat by now for Korean players. Their test servers are currently trying out all the goodies found in Aion 2.0.
The Balaur homeland of Balaurea is now open to players with the Elyos taking up Iggnison and Asmodians fortified in Gelkmaros. Naturally occuring windstreams in the areas allow free transport that do not use the flight timer but some streams cannot be left until you reach the end. New monsters above level 51 can be found and that calls for a level cap boost to 55.
Along with the vast changes and additions to quests, items, skills, and game UI, pets are introduced to travel along with the player. Unlike other MMOs, these pets will actually do something instead of sitting pretty; they'll create an item when fed, alert you when someone from the opposing race is near, hold onto your items, or provide a combination of services. Players can either receive their pet from a quest or purchase one if they've got the Kinah.
Unfortunately, Aion 2.0 doesn't feature anything yet from the "Vision" trailer released late last year. While our dreams of barreling through the enemy race with a dinosaur have yet to be realized, players will just have to be patient while the devs set the stage for those large-scale battles with invading colossi.
