Dead Rising 3 directly follows second game, more 'episodes' to come

Dead Rising 3 directly follows second game, more episodes to come

When companies see a good thing -- that which brings in lots of money -- they tend to stick with it. Such is the case with Dead Rising's digital episodes.

The Dead Rising 2 prologue, Case Zero, was released as an Xbox LIVE exclusive shortly before the sequel was actually released, and it sold over 500,000 digital units. In light of Case Zero's success, Capcom COO David Reeves has confirmed more downloadable prologue content for Dead Rising 3, which will "bridge a link" between it and the DR2 prequel Case Zero.

"Obviously, with all of that success on Dead Rising 2, it makes sense to move onto Dead Rising 3. I think that they [developer Blue Castle Games] may extend it by bringing in new characters and new interactions, or bring back others from before.

"The idea would be that we'll bring digital content to bridge a link between DR2 and DR3. It's a bit like an online game in that way -- a continuous story. I don't want to say episodic, but I think you'll be find there'll be scriptwriters coming in to [continue the story]."

In a nutshell, Dead Rising 3 will directly follow DR2 story-wise, and we can expect more prequel DLC.
