Battlefield Play4Free Announced

Teased earlier this week, Electronic Arts has officially announced the development of Battlefield Play4Free, a new free-to-play multiplayer shooter set for release in Spring 2011. Catering to the hardcore, the game will feature "photo-real" visuals with 32-player support, popular maps from Battlefield 2, classes & weapons from Bad Company 2, 16 vehicles, character progression and more! EA's James Salt offered the following comments on the news:

"We broke new ground in 2009 with the launch of Battlefield Heroes; a game that has 6M registered players worldwide. Now we are complementing that arcade shooter with a core, realistic Battlefield shooter experience that fans have been clamouring for," said James Salt, Senior Producer, Battlefield Play4Free. "Battlefield Play4Free is for serious shooter fans who are looking for a premium – but free – 21e7experience that rivals top console titles."
