Quake Live leaves beta, offers paid subscriptions

The "beta" label comes off for Quake Live so that means you don't have worry about that railgun overloading a ton of slugs into your face. While the game continues to be free for everyone, some subscriptions are being offered to entice players with more features.

A $24 Premium yearly subscription offers 20 community-favorite maps to frag around in, Freeze Tag mode, exclusive awards, statistics stored for six months, and the ability to create a clan plus join five clans. $48 nets you a Pro subscription that includes everything Premium offers plus the ability to create a server, its location, game type, and choosing up to three friends to join you.

It should be noted that your buddies don't need to have a Pro subscription to join servers you make so if you pool together some cash, you'll be able to enjoy the new maps. Otherwise, continue to frag as you please.
