EA: Bad Company 2 the "first strong attack" on Call of Duty

Bad Company 2 the first strong attack on Call of Duty

If anyone can kick Modern Warfare 2 from its number one spot on sales charts, it's probably EA.

From DICE to BioWare, the publisher has a number of notable development studios under its belt, and they've revealed their plans to kick Activision where it hurts with Battlefield: Bad Company 2. At least, that's what EA Europe boss Jens Uwe Intat believes.

"In March we will launch Battlefield: Bad Company 2, which is our first strong attack on Call Of Duty.

"The shooter space is one we don't want to give up. It's an important genre and we were the number one. So we are certainly working on how we can get that crown back and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is an important product in that context."

Impossible? Not entirely. There are at least a few souls out there who withheld their MW2 fund because of controversy surrounding the PC version. We know of at least one gamer who cared enough to mail DICE a check. DICE producer Gordon Van Dyke even made a direct statement concerning the issue of dedicated servers, assuring PC shooter fans of their dedication to the community.

Intat added, "If any of our studios can take on Modern Warfare, then it's DICE."

So if Bad Company 2 is the first attack on Activision and Modern Warfare 2, we're wondering what else EA has planned.
