Dead Space 2, Crysis 2 confirmed for fiscal 2011

Dead Space 2, Crysis 2 confirmed for fiscal 2011

Electronic Arts has a very promising year ahead of them, starting with today's release of Army of Two: The 40th Day, to be followed in the coming months by other titles like Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (our preview). Today, EA boss John Riccitiello said both upcoming titles Dead Space 2 and Crysis 2 will be "at full margins" within fiscal 2011. To put simply, both games are due for release before March of next year, though Dead Space 2 is believed to head the string of horror titles releasing in late October of this year.

Dead Space 2 is the direct sequel from the original Dead Space (our review), putting players in the shoes of Isaac Clarke. The maintenance engineer appears to be going rogue in his hunt for the zombie-like species known only as Necromorphs. Instead of taking place in the mighty hulls of the USG Ishimura however, Dead Space 2 has vacated to the metropolis of Sprawl, with several new features in store, possibly including a mutliplayer experience.

Though announced much longer ago, details are more sparse on Crytek's first console-based shooter Crysis 2, sequel to the powerhouse that has become a benchmark -- figuratively and literally -- in PC gaming. Running on the CryEngine3, Crysis 2 won't fail to deliver a spectacle of technical achievement, though it may not fetch as much of a following as the original title.
