A trailer was released today for Lord of the Rings: Conquest, a strategic action game in the same vein as Star Wars Battlefront. The game is coming January 13th, is made by Pandemic Studios, and being published by E.A.
This trailer is the first I've seen of the game -- and it looks pretty good. The player animations seem fairly fluid and well-done.
The plot of the game mostly follows the plot of all three of the Lord movies, highlighting each big battle. You can choose to play either as the good dudes or the bad dudes. Both the good dudes and bad dudes have their own versions of the predictable fantasy archetypes: the wizard, the warrior, the scout, and the archer.
But you will play as no regular dude. No, instead you'll get to pick your choice from an abundance of heroes taken from Tolkien's world. From Aargon to Treebeard to the Witch-King, you'll be able to help dice, slice, mince and skewer your opponents across a range of different maps.
