Microsoft plans to challenge Steam with PC game delivery service

Microsoft plans to challenge Steam with PC game delivery service

In an interview with Shacknews,Games for Windows Live general manager Chris Early stated his company's vision to offer PC games through its Marketplace application before not too long.

Just today MS updated their downloadable Games for Windows Live program to be able to handle videos, demos, and DLC. At the moment Steam can't handled DLC plugins, so this one area where MS already has a bit of a leg up.

Further integration of Games for Windows Live also seems likely with the new Windows, Windows 7.

Microsoft being Microsoft, they are in a good position to leverage support for their Games for Windows Live program. Perhaps Games for Windows Live will become the premier online distribution service for Xbox-to-PC game ports..? It also seems likely that more PC games will support playing online against Xbox gamers in the future.
