The ubiquitous convenience store chain that usually never shutters its doors gains an unlikely, new ally in MMORPG provider Nexon. The force behind such free-to-play MMORPGs (well, until you want to access the premimum content) like MapleStory and Mabinogi, and the upcoming Sugar Rush, is looking to promote their franchises at 7-Eleven in the U.S.
Expect to see stores offer free Nexon game discs with the purchase of any 22-oz Slurpee (or larger), as well as promotional Slurpee cups featuring codes for in-game items or bonuses. For example, redeeming the code on the MapleStory Slurpee cup will allow player characters to score double experience points for 90 minutes. Offering the game discs is actually a pretty nice idea, assuming there are enough potential Nexon customers who simply can't spare the bandwidth to download the games instead.
Now what would be nice is if there was a "Limited Edition Nexon Branded" Slurpee cup featuring either Nao or Goddess Morrigan (or both!) from Mabinogi.
