Logitech introduces $250 Guitar Hero controller

Logitech introduces $250 Guitar Hero controller

From what we've seen over the years on this site, we have a lot of people who would call themselves pretty hardcore about Guitar Hero, they play the latest games, they master them and then they go wild on the PC or other modded versions with custom tracks and patterns. They get other mods and do random things to have their personalized controllers if they really want to take it to the next level.

Well for those that were stuck trying to figure out how to go beyond, they can now rest easy as Logitech introduces their Premiere edition Guitar Hero controller, sporting a wood neck, rosewood fingerboard, metal frets, improved button response from their keyboard line and a custom gig bag because it's practically a replica of the Fender body.

The guitar has a lot of improvements to help give an edge over existing models though, the improved response system for the buttons can be handy when you're screaming through some of the harder tracks and I'm sure the additional neck-slider will play a useful role as well.

"To minimize button noise, Logitech uses rubber dome technology on the fret board controls, the same material used in its award-winning keyboards. The guitar controller also incorporates a New Touch-Sensitive Neck Slider, located so strumming is not always necessary to rack up the points. Additionally, the Neck Slider can be used in Guitar Hero World Tour’s new Music Studio to create an even wider away of sounds.

So you’ll be free to go where the music moves you, the Logitech Wireless Guitar Controller uses 2.4 GHz wireless technology to provide a range of up to 30 feet from the console. Just plug the USB receiver into the console and you’re ready to rock. In addition, a gig bag protects your guitar when you’re on the road and provides pocket space for your game discs and wireless receivers. Offering hundreds of hours of battery life, the Wireless Guitar Controller gives you enough juice to perform a festival’s worth of hits, encores included. The Wireless Guitar Controller requires two AA batteries to operate."

For those that need that extra edge or plan to do a lot of competition the Premiere Edition is probably the tool to have in your arsenal, for the average player the $250 tag seems a bit too high to really consider even though it does look quite remarkable for the design and it saves the trouble of having to mod a regular guitar.
