Possibly relating to the recent downfall of Pandemic Studios, The Saboteur hasn't been running so hot for PC gamers running ATI cards. In fact, it hasn't been running at all for most: it seems about 90% of users hit a crash after the title screen.
ATI 3, 4, and 5 series cards are affected, running under Windows Vista or 7 -- XP isn't listed in the stickied forum topic, but there are reports of the same problem from these users as well. This wouldn't be huge news if ATI hadn't sponsored the game (shows you how much those "Plays best on..." stickers are worth), even launching a promotion featuring ATI-based PCs for it.
A patch is in the works, but for now a workaround is available: setting processor affinity to single core. Instructions for Vista and 7 users is at the source; for XP, run the game, alt-tab out, open Task Manager, right click the game's process and set affinity to CPU 0 only. This seems to work for some users, although it's definitely a pain to do each time.
We'll update accordingly when the patch is released.
