Square Enix aren't afraid of showing off how far Final Fantasy XIV is coming along, as proved by the newest batch of screenshots. Below are images taken from actual gameplay footage as well as the debut CG trailer from this year's E3. Not only do they unveil some new locations such as deserts and mountains, but they also reveal possible factions and NPCs in the final release such as pirates.

Those who want even more information can visit the official site which has been recently updated with sections relating to the story and several in-game races.

It was only several months ago the game was announced at Sony's E3 conference, supposedly set to release sometime in 2010. FFXIV will be the second Final Fantasy MMO, alongside Final Fantasy XI, and will be playable on both the PC and the PlayStation 3.
