Left 4 Dead 2 SDK expands with more customization

Left 4 Dead 2 SDK expands with more customization

Valve's been very kind to the modding community in all its games, constantly updating their software development kits. There's no end in sight to their love for modders, asLeft 4 Dead 2 is about to be hit with even more options for greater customization.

One of the internal files used by the upcoming SDK reveals the ability to create custom models of Survivors, Horde zombies, and Special Infected, and weapons; entirely new weapon types can also be added for some extra spice. Further sweetening the deal: these custom features can all be self-contained in the campaigns they come with -- no server-side modification required.

It's always welcome to see some added flexibility for modders to further flesh out their ideas. It may also be a sign of things to come if Valve's other games will support these new features. First thing's first, though: everyone is going to want the old maps and survivors in L4D2, as well as other Valve characters for humor's sake. Taking on Dead Air with G-Man, Heavy, Companion Cube, and Bill? Sign me up.
