Another MMORPG, another open beta test. This time, however, it's a big one: open beta applications are now being accepted for the Windows version of Final Fantasy XIV. You better believe this is going to fill up fast.
Signing up for the open beta is a simple matter of creating a Square Enix Account (if you don't have one) and filling out a simple questionnaire. You'll be asked about some personal info, your computer setup, previous MMO and beta testing experience, and a little bit about your interests in the Final Fantasy series in general. Those signing up might hit that dreaded roadblock known as server congestion, but it shouldn't take long to overcome it with a couple of page reloads.
After you've submitted your application, all future details will be sent to your e-mail address. As for PlayStation 3 owners who would like to participate in the beta, you'll have to wait a little bit as recruitment for the console version of FFXIV will take place at a later date. Otherwise, good luck to everyone who signs up. For those who miss out, you'll just have to wait for the game's release sometime next year.
