USPS worker admits to stealing $86,000 in GameFly orders

Dishonest postal workers are a disconcerting thought. And if you reside in the City of Brotherly Love, this sobering reality check may apply to you.

34-year-old Reginald Johnson, a U.S. Postal Service worker, admitted in court yesterday, October 15, to stealing 2,200 video games from GameFly over the course of several months, specifically within the Philadelphia-area. Between April and September 2008, Johnson had stolen around $86,000 in GameFly orders.

On September 8, 2008, officials conducted surveillance following reports of missing GameFly mailings in Philly, and ol' Johnson got caught with his hands in the damn cookie jar. Worse yet, when authorities approached Johnson to arrest him at the mail center's parking lot, he drove off in his SUV in an attempt to escape and crashed. When police continued the pursuit on foot, Johnson ran into a neighboring yard with a duffel bag filled with 81 GameFly mailings; a search of his home uncovered 79 more.

Anyway, the immoral federal worker is facing 12 to 18 months in prison for his crimes, and sentencing is set for January 13, 2010. Shame on you, Johnson, shaaaame.
