Expanding their reach once again, Google has teamed up with Tribal DDB, a company owned by Hasbro, in an effort to utilize the Google Maps API as the backdrop for an online, real-world based version of board game classic, Monopoly.
Players are able to buy pretty much any street in the world (apparently). You start with 3 million Monopoly bucks, which can go pretty far: crummy little streets sell for around $30,000, and sleek streets, like real-life Pennsylvania Avenue, go for upwards of 2 million bucks.
With Google's help, game-maker Tribal DDB has expanded the feature-set of Monopoly (because Google loves to help expand feature-sets). In addition to typical Monopoly hotels, you can also buy stadiums, castles and skyscrapers.
We'd like to tell you more about this game -- but currently, the game's website is getting hammered and is unavailable. No doubt there is a mad cyber-rush on for all those great cyber-properties.
