Man blames Silent Hill for shutting down hospital power

Man blames Silent Hill for shutting down hospital power

With all the violent games out there taking heat for allegedly influencing crazies to murder and do other weird crap, Silent Hill has mostly sat under the radar despite its obvious mind f*cking qualities. That is, until a crazy from the Netherlands showed up.

Identified as "Jan H." to the press, the 35-year-old man had snuck into a the Sophia Hospital's basement in April 2008 and shut off the establishment's power. Why? He blames psychosis and claims he thought he was playing Silent Hill at the time.

The hospital was without electricity for about 45 minutes and thankfully, no one died during the outage. However, hospital staff had to manually respirate intensive care patients during that period. During a court trial last week, Jan said he thought he was playing the game at the time and had "no idea of the true consequences of his deeds." He was apparently trying to get a toothbrush by messing with the levers and switches that controlled the hospitals electricity.

Now we're a huge fan of Silent Hill, but no one remembers a puzzle that required you to find a toothbrush in a hospital basement. Well, at least Jan wasn't hallucinating and armed with a rusty axe -- that would have been bad.
