Come November, people are going to revel in teaming up with friends and taking on a new zombie invasion in Left 4 Dead.
Video of the Xbox 360 / PC game in action has been fairly sparse so far -- but a lengthy developer commentary came out today, recorded at the Games Convention in Leipzig. It seems like the game is in a very advanced state of polish now, and will easily make its November 4 release date.
A coupe of features that really stand out in Left 4 Dead is the ability to play the zombies for a change. Not only does the computer randomly place your zombie opponents, but human players can also play the role of a brain-eating zombie, and try to eat the opposing team of four humans.
Valve also seems to have taken a Counter-Strike approach to the game, beyond just using the Source engine. Weapons seem semi-realistically modeled, so you have to make every shot count against the infected.
It is also interesting to not that this game does not have a HUD targeting system -- as some FPS games have been going as of late (such as the upcoming Aliens: Colonial Marines) you have to aim with your guns sights.
