Diablo III art director resigns

Diablo III art director resigns

Blizzard confirmed with MTV Multiplayer that Diablo III art director Brian Morrisroe has resigned from his position.  This prompted the company to post job listings in search of new talent to fill Morrisroe's shoes.

The timing of his resignation could not have been more coincidental, following Diablo III designer Jay Wilson's response to all the uproar concerning the game's design choices.  However, a Blizzard representative explained in an e-mail to MTV that Morrisroe's decision to leave Blizzard had nothing to do with the ongoing controversy, and his departure will not change how the game looks:

Regarding Brian, he recently resigned to form a startup technology company (outside the game industry), which is why we’ve posted about the open position. This change won’t impact the game…we’re really pleased with the look and feel that Brian helped create for Diablo III, and the new person we bring onboard will work with the other artists on the team to maintain the art style moving forward.

Although the design team is going through with the current aesthetics, Wilson explained in an interview that it was Morrisroe who decided to alter Diablo III's art style.
