Fallout 3 pre-orders go for sale...with a release date hint?

Collector's edition pre-orders for Fallout 3, a post-nuclear RPG from Bethesda Softworks, went on sale today, on Amazon.

It comes with the following:

The Fallout 3 game;

Customized, metal Vault-Tec lunch box;

5” Vault Boy Bobblehead;

‘The Art of Fallout 3’ hardcover book; and

‘The Making of Fallout 3’ DVD

But for the true, rich Fallout 3 fan you can also purchase the Surival Edition of the game. The Survival Edition comes with all that stuff listed above, in addition to a 1:1 replica of a Pip-Boy 3000. For you non-Fallout fans, the Pip-Boy 3000 is sort of like a retro-futurist styled PDA. This replica model isn't a PDA though, its an alarm clock.

Just how much do you think this worth? Four hundred dollars? Five hundred dollars? One thousand dollars? If you order now, all this can be yours for only $119.99 --that's only a couple of easy payments on your credit card. But don't delay! Order now.

The Collector's Edition for the PC will be selling for $69.99. For whatever reason, the console Collector's Edition seems to be selling for $79.99.

But there's a little bit more to this story. On the Amazon listings for the new Fallout 3 products (including a strategy guide) it says: "This title will be released on October 7, 2008." Not sure  how accurate this -- but the PC / XBox 360 / PC3 game was said to be arriving in Fall of 2008, so, this could possibly be a target release date for the game.
