Space Marine 'Exterminatus' co-op DLC coming late October
Everyone kind of figured Warhammer 40K: Space Marine would have some type of cooperative mode, just not when Relic would be adding it. Well, the formerly announced "Exterminatus" co-op mode has been dated, and as promised, will be arriving this month. Relic and THQ confirmed today that Space Marine's first DLC -- which is free, by the way -- will be released on October 25. In Exterminatus, players team up in four-man squads to fight off waves of Orks or Chaos agents, as any of the game's three existing Space Marine classes: Tactical, Assault, and Devastator. Like with Firefight in Halo and Horde in Gears of War, your progression through Exterminatus will go toward your multiplayer ranking. Scoring depends on your overall performance, which can be amplified by various multipliers and dynamic challenges during the match. At launch, players will have access to two Exterminatus modes: "Assault on Hab Center Andreas" and "Escape from Kalkys Facility." Relic has also confirmed that more Space Marine DLC is coming, and not all of it will be free, according to producer Andy Lang. "There are some plans [for more]," he said. "We're working on some other DLC." While details are scant at this point, he did mention "there will be a free component to them as well as some paid components."
