Activision plans five more 'Hero' games for 2009

Activision plans five more Hero games for 2009

We've already heard about Activision's upcoming multiplatformGuitar Hero Greatest Hits, due this summer, and DJ Hero, leaked by CEO Bobby Kotick.

Looks like Activision isn't ready to quit there, though, if these new rumors ring true.  The publisher is supposedly planning to churn out five new Hero games this year for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and 2, and Nintendo Wii.

More specifically, names like Hard Rock Van Halen, Guitar Hero 5, DJ Hero, and Band Hero have been tossed around.  They're also planning to release at least one more DS Guitar Hero in 2009, following Guitar Hero: Modern Hits.  Meanwhile, Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero appear to be destined for the same platforms, so it's unclear at this time why there would be two separate titles that imply similar play.

Despite this information coming from allegedly reputable sources, Activision won't comment on what they perceive to be rumors.  Only one thing is for certain; Activision is not going to let this money-making franchise die quietly beneath competitor Harmonix's feet.
