X3: Terran Conflict gone gold; in stores October 3rd

While X3: Terran Conflict has not been getting a lot of press in the game media, there is a hardcore group of fans just waiting to dive into the perhaps final release in the large-scale space sim game.

The game has now gone gold, and will be available October 3rd. Steam will be offering pre-loads on September 25th. (There are so many promising PC games coming out in October, I just might suffer from spontaneous human implosion.)

From German studio Egosoft, in a sense X3: Terran Conflict has been in development for 10 years now. Since the first X game, those meticulous Egosofters have been working on the engine, adding stuff to the game, making up aliens, expanding the game.

In X3 you start with very little space-credits. Gradually you build up a mini empire for yourself. You can explore, trade and mine stuff, build things like starbases, and of course, space dogfighting is a big part of the game. Besides the open-galaxy freedom stuff, there is also a plot that you uncover throughout your travels.
