Jack Thompson Disbarred

Adding to the unemployment line today, the Florida Supreme Court has ordered the permanent disbarment of controversial anti-game lawyer Jack Thompson. According to the official court documents, Mr. Thompson will have 30 days to close out his practice and will not be eligible for a rehearing without the signed backing of another Florida Bar member. Never one to follow rules, Thompson has filed an emergency motion for a rehearing, claiming conspiracy is afoot:

The timing of this disbarment transparently reveals its motivation: This past Friday Thompson filed a federal civil rights action against The Bar, the Supreme Court, and all seven of its Justices. This rush to disbarment is in retribution for the filing of that federal suit. With enemies this foolish, Thompson needs only the loyal friends he has.

More on Thompson's response to the disbarment and his motion for a retrial are available at Kotaku.
