A new PC game was announced today by a studio based in Poland called Teyon (that's the name of the studio, not the game.)
The new game is called District Wars. Judging from the one sort-of screenshot yet released, the game looks like it'll be a 3rd person gang-on-gang warfare game, sort of reminiscent of a limited Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
I'm not sure how many hoods, gangstahs or even black people they have in Poland, but it didn't stop Teyon from making what looks like to be a game concept riding on the semi-misguided cliche of gangster rap and movies about the 'hood from the 1990's.
Hopefully it won't happen -- but perhaps that game journalist who thought Resident Evil 5 was racist might have a bit to say about this game that seems to portray and promote unhealthy stereotypes about the glorification of criminal activity in inner-city American slums.
Either way, the game looks at least semi-interesting, in this gamer's perspective. A PC exclusive seems kind of strange -- this game looks like it may be better suited for consoles, but PC gaming it more prevalent in Poland than it is here, so I suppose that makes sense.
The website for District Wars went live today, and a trailer is promised to arrive in August.
Here is the fairly flimsy plot of the game, quoted from the website, and below that, we have some concept art:
A sudden attack on the Scorpions has changed life of Tyrus Jones forever. He is the last gang member who survived. Now the only thing that drives him is the urge of revenge. He will turn the city of New Valley upside down in search for mysterious gang that takes control over the city bit by bit.
T.J. will dispose other New Valley's gangs that stand on his way. He will also confront corrupted policemen, bribed drug dealers and old mates that turned against him. He'll show them how big mistake it was to leave him alive.
