Square Enix has announced plans to form a new entity called "Square Enix Europe" for publishing Square Enix and Eidos products, with the aim of creating "one efficient and powerful structure for game publishing."
Eidos' various development studios will be reporting to the newly formed Square Enix Europe -- name is subject to change.
This new publishing branch is to be led by Eidos CEO Phil Rogers and will combine the two companies' sales and marketing offices, resulting in numerous layoffs. Additionally, U.S. sales, marketing and distribution operations will be transferred from Eidos to John Yamamoto at Square Enix's regional office.
"Unfortunately we are expecting some jobs to be impacted directly by this in both Europe and North America," read a company statement. "We are hoping to minimise this wherever possible and offer support and advice to any employees directly affected."
