Upcoming 'Privates' DLC to explore male anatomy

Upcoming Privates DLC to explore male anatomy

The raunchy-but-educational shoot 'em up Privates will be getting some free DLC around Easter 2011 that sends the condom-hatted soldiers to new parts. More precisely, male body parts.

Zombie Cow Studios isn't going to stop at just offering different levels so there will be a new player character and enemies to shoot up. New gameplay mechanics will also be introduced to keep players on their toes.

If you haven't tried Privates yet, visit the source link for a free PC-only download.

Bad Company 2 R9 PC patch released

Bad Company 2 R9 PC patch released

It's been a whopping four months since the last patch for Bad Company 2 on PC. Last we checked in, DICE was investigating the troublesome issue of trying to update the game without forcing players to re-download the last patch on top of the current one -- not fun for anybody, especially with the files approaching 1GB. After all this time, it appears they've come up with a way, and naturally have begun teasing a bit what's to come.

Update: the patch is arriving sooner than expected -- tomorrow. Besides improved hit reg, 3D Vision, and rez immunity fixes, there's a long-waited damage reduction to the Carl Gustav and a load of other balance improvements. See the full list of changes at the source. Note unfortunately the patch is still quite large -- 900MB.

At this stage, it's said the community is very pleased with the alterations and fixes.

Update: the patch is now live.

Frontiers Free Weekend

Next weekend, there will be not one but two free weekend games on Steam as Futuremark Games Studios and Fatshark have just announced "Frontiers Free Weekend" - both Shattered Horizon and Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West are available November 4-7 free to play. As usual, free weekend comes with a sale with the combo pack of both titles available at $12.49 (more than 60% off the SRP of the two titles combined). Each title is also available separately at 50% off.

Both games have recently received updates;

Shattered Horizon is an innovative multiplayer first person shooter that immerses you in the cold reality of zero gravity combat in space. The game recently started an open beta that adds AI bots to the game for the first time. These bots will be available on special servers during the free weekend to help new players learn the unique tactics possible when playing an FPS in zero gravity.

Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West is a third-person shooter that delivers an intense team-based multiplayer exp207eerience. Relive the violent era of the Wild West with adrenaline-fuelled action and fast-paced gunfights. Engage in gritty battles in beautifully rendered classic Western settings. Players test their mettle in genre-specific game modes and levels tailor-made for satisfying team play. Lead and Gold recently had a new map and game mode added and now has dedicated servers available.

Full official press release can be found here and both games will be available on Steam for preload for the free weekend Wednesday evening.

WiiWare version of Super Meat Boy delayed

WiiWare version of Super Meat Boy delayed

We're sorry to dampen every Wii owner's day here but the WiiWare version of Super Meat Boy won't be making its November 2010 release as intended. Team Meat is trying their best to compress the game down to a tolerable size so it won't eat up every Wii console's internal memory.

As for the PC version, that'll be ready for download during the last week of November. You'll be able to grab it off Steam when it's ready to go.

If you're not familiar with the living slab of meat, check out a bizarre trailer to get familiar with Meat Boy.
